Why does the united states sell weapons to foreign countries?

America sells weapons to other countries because it serves those that do the selling. Mainly the U.S. Government. The U.S. sold S.A.M.s (Surface to Air Missle) to Osama bin Laden to fight the Russians in Afghanistan during the cold war. During the Kennedy era there was the Cuban Missle Crisis. During Reagan...Iran/ Contra scandal. It seems that as long as there is money, the United States will sell arms to anyone.
