My BBQ is hooked up to natural gas. It doesn't stay on in slight wind. Should I install my propane regulator?

My BBQ was hooked to propane. When I had it switched to natural gas line they didn't use a regulator. The gas supply doesn't seem to be consistent and it goes out a lot and doesn't allow to use the control. It gets very hot even when turned on low. Would I be able to use the propane regulator? Would this allow a better gas flow and keep it from blowing out?
