Need a little advice please?

My fianc� is currently in jail facing a life sentence. He is charged with CSC 1ST DEGREE (MULTIPLE VARIABLES) I don't want to go too much into it but I doubt his innocence. I'm wondering whether or not I should wait for him. He hasn't been much of a father to our kids and he refuses to work and help with household chores. He is also an emotional/verbal abuser. So my question to you all is what would you do if you were in my position?
